10 Easy Ways to Energize Your LinkedIn Presence
Many of my clients ask me about LinkedIn when we discuss social media and content as part of their overall digital marketing strategy.
Two common questions are:
"How can I create more engagement and build a larger following?"
"I don't like social media that much, but what are some easy things I can do so it's not a big time commitment?"
Here are ten simple things you can do to make the LinkedIn gods happy:
1️⃣ Be consistent: It's better to post once or twice a week on the same days consistently, rather than posting a flurry and then going quiet.
2️⃣ Post during the workday: Aim for late morning/middle of the day, and ideally between Tuesday to Thursday.
3️⃣ Write content that's valuable to your audience: This could be an observation on an industry trend, a hard-earned lesson learned, or a nugget to move a career forward.
4️⃣ Be generous: Share thought-provoking articles from reputable sources, great jobs, and funding opportunities.
5️⃣ Repost and add your own commentary: While reposting is good, adding your own thoughts will boost your presence and also help the original poster.
6️⃣ Celebrate wins: People love to help celebrate new jobs and significant milestones. Whether it's your own or one you share, it always generates happy comments.
7️⃣ Ask a specific question at the end of a post: Think of a logical question to ask of your audience that's relevant to your post and add it at the end to encourage interaction.
8️⃣ Tag people and orgs: Use the @ symbol to tag people and organizations to help your post spread further.
9️⃣ Add a thoughtful comment: When you comment on a post, make it count. Write a sentence or two that shows you read it.
🔟 Use your own photos: The authentic, imperfect photos you upload from your phone make LinkedIn happy. Stock photos, not so much.
